Health systems looking to drive measurable impact with their IT training programs may want to look to UCHealth and its computer-based training strategy as a model for success. The 15-hospital, Colorado-based health system overhauled its training program in 2020, partnering with uPerform to transition away from classroom training. Their new, self-paced virtual training strategy has improved user satisfaction and user engagement, streamlined training, increased efficiency and more.Â
UCHealth initially looked to uPerform to solve its scalability challenges and deliver a more consistent learning experience to its 30,000 Epic users spread across multiple states in the Rocky Mountain Region. uPerform integrates with EHRs like Epic, providing access to relevant learning content directly in the workflow. Content can be delivered based on role, and links to specific content can be deeply embedded into the most challenging workflows.Â
We’ve shared UCHealth success stories before, but in 2024 UCHealth partnered with us and KLAS Research to participate in an Arch Collaborative EHR satisfaction survey. This allowed us to dive deeper into the data behind these stories and compile a formal case study utilizing the data from the survey.Â
Here’s what we found for nurses using the uPerform Learning Library, F1 Dashboard Integration and oneSOURCEapp:Â
- 50% increase in initial training satisfaction
- 27% increase in self-reported efficiency
- 51% increase in nurses who believe Epic changes are communicated well
- 37% increase in nurse trust in IT, ranking them in the upper 10% of all Arch Collaborative respondentsÂ
- 27% increase in nurses agreeing Epic enhances their clinical practice
